Tamil
Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation Ltd.
[TIIC] is the pioneer among State Financial
Corporations of the country.
Since its inception in 1949, it has
been contributing significantly to the
industrial development of Tamilnadu. The
main objective of the Corporation is to
foster industrial development by providing
long term financial assistance to industries
in the State. TIIC has assisted 1,03,115
units with a cumulative sanction of
Rs.7004.64 crores upto 31.03.09.
The Corporation
has registered a net profit for the sixth
consecutive year. For the year ended
31.3.2009 the net profit has been
Rs.29.36 crores which is the highest
in recent years. The State Government's
capital infusion of Rs.150 Crores, in March
2008, has helped improve the capital
adequacy ratio.
Loan sanctions
have increased to Rs.538.37 crores during
2008-09 from Rs.488.79 crores during
2007-08. Gross NPAs fell from 30.44% during
2007-08 to 24.44% in 2008-09. The Operating
Profit per employee has grown from Rs.3.12
lakhs in 2007-08 to Rs.4.88 lakhs during
2008-09. We expect this trend to continue
during the current year in spite of economic
slow down due to the aggressive marketing
efforts and superior service provided by the
employees of the Corporation.
The total
income of the Corporation for the financial
year 2008-09 was Rs.147.42 crores as
compared to Rs.122.15 crores in 2007-08. The
increased profits have happened inspite of
increased expenses resulting from
implementation of Sixth Pay Commission,
increased cost of funds and economic
recession.
Capital and
Reserves increased from Rs.165.37 crores in
2007-08 to Rs.194.73 Crores in 2008-09. The
capital adequacy ratio improved from 1.72%
in 2007-08 to 7.66% in 2008-09.
The
Corporation's strategies like extensive
customer meets participated by the
management and staff, quick response and
disposal of applications, enhancing product
content, fine tuning of interest-rates and
quick disbursal of subsidies have helped to
overcome the stiff market competition in the
depressed manufacturing scenario.
